Spiced Nuts

Spiced Nuts

This is a great holiday hostess gift if I can keep from eating them all myself. Don't try to make these in the summer because the humidity will keep them from getting/staying crispy.

  • 1 Egg White
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Chile Powder
  • 1/4 tsp. ground Allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground Cumin
  • 1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper
  • 2 1/2 Cups Pecan halves

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Beat egg white until soft and foamy. Combine all ingredients except nuts; whisk into egg white. Stir in pecans until well coated; spread in single layer onto a ungreased rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 15 minutes, then toss and separate nuts. Reduce oven temp to 250 degrees and bake another 10 minutes.
  3. Allow to cool. Break into individual pieces.
  4. Store in airtight containers.
