My freezer is too full! Eek, I grouse every time I have to root around in here for something necessary and keep pushing those frozen raspberries, round bourbon ice cubes, or leftover tomato curry soup to the side. Enough already.
But at least have some fun with it.
So the challenge is to get rid of everything in the freezer. Or as close to every thing as possible. You can’t even believe how much old stuff is in there that is seriously becoming suspect as dinner with each passing week.
It is rather fun too. Here are the rules:
- You cannot buy anything that needs to be frozen until your project is done.
- You can only buy perishable groceries, i.e., milk, eggs, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, lemons.
- You must take at least one thing out of the freezer, and eat it, every day. It doesn’t count if you take out freezer-burned chicken and decide to throw it away. If that is the case, keep digging until you find something you can eat.
It’s really quite fun to force your creativity and eat what you’ve stockpiled in there. It looks like I am in line for a lot of banana bread and chicken casseroles. But I am up for the task because I know how fun the task is and how wonderful the result is when I can see every thing on each shelf and don’t have to keep rooting around old, cold, chunks of disrespected food.
Please try along with me. You will not regret it!
